Ensure you receive your BART Push Notifications – without Delay

Certain Android devices might have some problems receiving push notifications when the BART Team App is closed. Whether you run into this issue or not will depend on the type of Android device you’re using.

To ensure you keep receiving push notifications without delay, you will need to setup your device so that it automatically starts up the BART Team App when a new push notification arrives.

The following instructions will help you get setup for more reliable push notifications. These are only intended as a starting point however, as exact steps will vary depending on your specific device model.

General Android Settings

Keep Wi-Fi enabled at all times

In case you only receive notifications as soon as you unlock the screen, then there is a chance that your Wi-Fi gets disabled when your phone goes to sleep. It’s good for battery saving, but bad for data syncing.

Here’s how to fix it:

    1. Go to phone Settings and tap on Wi-Fi.
    2. Now tap on the main menu at the top-right corner and select Advanced from it.
    3. On the next page, ensure “Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” option is set to Always.

This should keep Wi-Fi on when the screen goes black and show notifications in time.

Stop using battery & phone optimizing apps

Most phone and battery optimizing apps close all the background processes to free up RAM and put less load on the phone. This may boost your phone speed, but it will lead to delayed or no notifications from your apps.

A lot of these background processes sync data and deliver notifications. Once they are disabled, you would not be able to receive any updates from the installed apps unless you open them or they have a feature to automatically turn on.

Don’t kill background processes yourself

Following up to the above point, many users like to disable background processes from the Android settings to get a bit performance boost. Don’t do it, at least not for the apps from which you are expecting notifications, such as BART.

You should also refrain from task-killing apps that promise to completely shut down the app when you close an app using them. They also kill background processes while closing the app interface.

Model Specific Settings

Scroll down to your device model and follow the steps provided:

Xiaomi

Enable ‘Autostart’ for the BART Team App.

  1. Open up ‘Security’
  2. Navigate to ‘Permissions’
  3. Select ‘Autostart’
  4. Make sure the BART Team App is enabled

Motorola

Ensure the BART Team App isn’t on the ‘Auto-end List’.

  1. Open up the ‘Task Manager’
  2. Navigate to the ‘Applications’ tab
  3. If your BART Team App is on the ‘Auto-end List’, remove it from the list

OnePlus

Make sure the BART Team App is in the ‘Auto-launch’ list.

  1. Open up ‘Settings’
  2. Select ‘Apps’
  3. Tap on the gear icon
  4. Select ‘Apps Auto-launch’
  5. Find the BART Team App in the list and toggle it on to enable ‘Auto-launch‘

Oppo

Make sure the BART Team App is on the list of allowed start-up apps.

  1. Open ‘Security Center’
  2. Select ‘Privacy Permissions’
  3. Tap on ‘Startup Manger’
  4. Allow the BART Team App to start-up in the background

Vivo

Enable the ‘Autostart‘ setting for the BART Team App.

  1. Open ‘i Manger’
  2. Select ‘App Manager’
  3. Tap on ‘Autostart Manager’
  4. Allow the BART Team App to auto-start in the background

Lenovo

Enable the ‘Auto-start‘ setting for the BART Team app.

  1. Open ‘Settings’
  2. Select ‘Power Manager’
  3. Tap on ‘Background App Management’
  4. Flip the ‘Allow auto-start’ toggle for the BART Team App

Huawei

Ensure that the BART Team App is on the list of protected apps.

  1. Open ‘System Settings’
  2. Tap on ‘Advanced Settings’
  3. Select ‘Battery Manager’
  4. Choose ‘Protected Apps’
  5. Enable the toggle next to the BART Team App to allow it to keep running even after the screen is turned off

Samsung

If you are using the BART Team App on a Samsung device, try following these steps:

Switch off battery optimisation for the BART Team App.

  1. Open ‘Settings’
  2. Select ‘Apps’
  3. Tap on the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen
  4. Choose ‘Special Access’
  5. Select ‘Optimise Battery Usage’
  6. Tap on the dropdown menu that says ‘Apps not Optimized’
  7. Switch to ‘All Apps’
  8. Turn off battery optimisation for the BART Team App

Exclude the BART Team App from any of the battery optimisation features on your device.

  1. Open ‘Settings’
  2. Select ‘Battery’
  3. Disable battery optimisation for the BART Team App
  4. Ensure the ‘Restrict Background Data’ setting is disabled

Devices using Marshmallow OS or above (Android 6.0+)

If you’ve tried out the instructions above and the problem still remains, you can also try making sure that the BART Team App is not optimised for the ‘Doze’ feature (battery saving).

This setting can be found on most devices by following:

  3. Battery Optimisation

Make sure the BART Team App is on the list of apps excluded from optimisation.
