Purchasing & Licensing FAQ

You won’t find a pushy sales team, or hidden fees here. Just a darn good product made by a true-blue Aussie team.

Our trials are completely free (cost-free, pressure-free, commitment-free), and offer full functionality for you to check out. Not only do you get access to the entire suite of BART modules, but you will also have access to our uncompromising sales and technical support.

Evaluations

1. Can I evaluate BART before purchasing it?

You can evaluate BART for 30 days before purchasing. You will be provided with access to the fully functional suite of modules available – what you’ll be using during your evaluation is what you’ll get when you buy.

2. Do I need to reinstall the software after purchasing it?

All modules besides the Team App are accessed via your web browser, so installation isn’t necessary. As BART is fully cloud-based, there is no need to download and reinstall your BART Team App after purchase – all data will remain the same.

3. Can I delete my account after the trial period if I don’t want BART?

If you decide during or after the evaluation period that BART isn’t for you, your membership will lapse and you will no longer have access to the system.

4. How do I trial BART?

The first step is to register. You will be required to provide some information about where you fit within the emergency services.

We’ll need to know things like what brigade, group or unit you belong to, your position and a simple question to verify that you should have access to your requested broadcast feed.

This is generally done by comparing the most recent message you have received via your paging device.

Once your registration form has been submitted, we generally take 1-3 working days to process your membership. On completion, you will receive your membership confirmation via email.

Pricing and Discounts

1. How much does BART cost?

The pricing for a BART subscription will depend on whether you are using the system on a ‘Volunteer’ or a ‘Professional’ basis. As part of our ongoing long-term commitment to Emergency Services Volunteers, we offer a discounted price for those who sacrifice their own time and effort to help protect our communities.

Volunteer subscriptions are $15.00 AUD inc GST per account (minimum of 10 members)
Professional subscriptions are $25.00 AUD inc GST per account (minimum of 10 members)
Individual subscriptions are $30.00 AUD inc GST

2. Will I be locked into a contract?

No. After your initial payment, you or your group will be covered for 12 months. If after the 12 months you wish to discontinue the service, you are not required to make any additional payments.

3. Are there any applicable taxes?

In accordance with Australian legislation, all BART purchases will incur GST. To make it easy for you, all prices displayed on the BART website are inclusive of GST.

Sponsorship

1. Am I eligible for sponsorship?

Sponsorship is only available for groups, not individuals.
Any group can have their BART memberships purchased by a sponsor, however sponsorship must be first enabled by a BART administrator.

2. How do I enable sponsorship for my brigade, group or unit?

Sponsorship can be enabled by BART administrators.

  1. Navigate to the BART members area
  2. Hover over the ‘Administrator’ item in the main menu to reveal the sub-menu items
  3. Click on the ‘Groups’ menu item
  4. Select the group that you would like to enable sponsorship for (if you administer multiple groups)
  5. A popup dialogue box will appear, with the ‘Details’ tab open by default
  6. Scroll down the page until you see the ‘Enable Sponsorship’ toggle option
  7. Click on the toggle to make it read ‘ON’
  8. Click on ‘SAVE’ at the bottom of the popup

3. How does my sponsor pay for my membership?

Anyone can pay for a BART subscription through the website as long as the group has already enabled sponsorship within the ‘BART Members’ area.

  1. Follow this link to the BART purchase page
  2. Select the ‘Sponsorship’ option
  3. Choose from the list of brigades, units, groups and flotillas that have enabled sponsorship payments
  4. Agree to the terms and conditions
  5. Choose your payment method

2. Which payment methods are accepted?

Licensing

1. How do I choose between individual, group or regional license types?

Individual License

Individuals can purchase a 12-month license for $30 AUD (inc. GST).

The individual license option is perfect for those wanting to use and experience BART when the majority of team members are not onboard.

Group License

If your team has 5 or more members who are interested in BART, a group license may be appropriate. Our group pricing starts from $150 AUD per year (inc. GST) for up to 10 members.

Our group pricing slides on a ‘per member’ basis, so the more members you have onboard the cheaper BART becomes.

The additional benefit of group licenses is that members won’t have to organise and administer their own individual membership.

2. I want to purchase a group license; what do I do if some members already have individual licenses?

We offer a ‘pro-rata’ credit for any groups that wish to cover individuals with existing licenses. This means that the remaining months left on an individuals license is credited back to the group once a group license has been purchased.

Software Maintenance and Enhancements

1. How often is the software updated?

Bug fixes and general maintenance is generally completed every 1-2 months. Major updates occur on a less frequent basis of every 3-4 months.

2. What can I expect during update periods?

During the update periods, we take every precaution to ensure there is no system downtime.

3. How will I know if the software has been updated?

Release notes are provided for members within the Members area, where you can find all fixes and enhancements itemised.

If the BART Team app has been updated, you will be prompted to update from your current version via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

We also try and give you the heads up before a big release, so the best way to be prepared is to add us on Facebook, make sure our newsletters aren’t going into your junk mail, and visit our website regularly.

Managing my Account

1. I’ve lost my password; what do I do?

You can reset your password at any time if you have a valid email address entered into the system. Simply hit the ‘Forgot my Password’ link underneath any of the BART login screens, and follow the prompts.

If you don’t have a valid email address entered into the system, you will need to contact your BART administrator to reset it manually.

2. What details are required in my profile?

We recommend filling out as much of your profile information as possible. This will make it easier for your administrator and team mates to identify you within the system. It will also make it easier if you forget your password.

3. How can I assign another administrator for my group?

Only existing administrators are able to view and change another members’ profile permissions. This can be completed within the BART Members area.

4. What do I need to do when I get a new smartphone?

When you get a new smartphone, you will need to download the BART Team App for your device. Once installed, simply login with your existing username and password.
